Jaleador had his first public debut at the South Island Stallion Parade in mid September 2010. The Parade had been postponed by one week, due to the recent earthquake in the Canterbury area and Christchurch, however the indoor arena and all associated buildings at the Canterbury Showgrounds had survived without harm.
Stallions representing various breeds were paraded, each in their own spot with commentary about their breeding and equestrian abilities. We were lucky enough to have drawn a spot toward the middle of the line-up, which meant the maximum number of spectators were present and lining one long- and one short side of the arena on tired seating to watch the stallions.
Prior to the presentation inside the arena, stallions paraded on a large grass area outside where about 3 photographers were busy trying to capture the special moments. Thankfully Christchurch was blessed with glorious weather, blue skies and sunshine, very different to the stormy conditions the rest of the country experienced during that day.
Jaleador was presented inhand on a long line, able to show off his beautiful elastic trot including some eyecatching trot extensions. During the entire time, his behaviour was impecable which earned him many positive comments from spectators. Before and after his appearance, interested parties gathered around his stable and he was happy to allow young and old into his stable for closer inspection. He showed himself to be a true ambassador of the P.R.E. breed, showing off his beauty and nobility, his athletic paces and his kind temperament.
